Mawenzi Technical Climbing
Kilimanjaro's rugged second summit is a serious mountaineering objective. Mawenzi Technical Climbing takes experienced alpinists up its jagged sub-peaks, gullies and rock faces.
While most visitors head for Kibo, Mawenzi (5,149m) — Kilimanjaro's dramatic second peak — is the domain of technical climbers. Its seven sub-peaks, sheer cliffs and complex gullies offer demanding rock and alpine routes with spectacular views across the saddle to Kibo.
This is a specialist ascent requiring ropes, technical skill and proper permits, best suited to experienced mountaineers seeking a challenge beyond the standard trekking routes. Climbs are arranged privately with qualified mountain guides.
