Crater Camping at Kilimanjaro's Summit
Spend a night at the very top of Africa. Crater Camping places your tent inside Kilimanjaro's Kibo crater, steps from Uhuru Peak, the glaciers and the ash pit — the ultimate high-altitude adventure.
For seasoned trekkers, Crater Camp (around 5,700m) is the most exclusive campsite on Kilimanjaro. Sleeping inside the Kibo caldera lets you explore the Furtwängler Glacier, the Reusch Ash Pit and the Northern Icefields, and reach Uhuru Peak for a crowd-free sunrise.
It demands excellent acclimatization and is reserved for strong, well-prepared climbers — but the reward is a night on the Roof of Africa that very few travelers ever experience. Crater Camping is added to longer summit itineraries to allow proper altitude preparation.
